Becki Newton Pregnant

Becki Newton of Ugly Betty fame is pregnant with her first child, reports USA Today, and the pregnancy is causing some major changes for her new show, Love Bites.

The new NBC show has been pushed back to midseason to allow for the Newton’s pregnancy. The additional time will also be used to resolve casting issues, as well as to find a new executive producer after Cindy Chupack (Sex and the City) stepped down due to personal reasons.

Chupack will continue to be a writer on the show, but said in a statement that it has “become clear that for several reasons, some of them personal, this change (and a little more time) is what we need to launch this show properly.”

The first half of the year will feature a non-celebrity edition of The Apprentice in Love Bites’s timeslot. The last non-celebrity edition of The Apprentice was in 2007. A fourth celebrity edition is still planned for March 2011.

Love Bites features a cast of mostly rotating guest stars, with the few season regulars being played by Newton, Greg Grunberg (Heroes) and Constance Zimmer (Entourage). Newton plays a virgin, while Grunberg and Zimmer play a married couple. The show will focus on the ups and downs of dating, love and sex.

This will be the first child for Newton and husband, Chris Diamantopoulos, whom she married in May 2005.

While there have been several reports the couple had got engaged, they had always denied it until now.

Last year, Orlando and Miranda – who have been dating since 2007 – moved into together, and it was expected they would announce their engagement shortly afterwards.

Miranda had previously said she wanted to marry the heartthrob – who once dated Kate Bosworth – and have children with him, but she wasn’t quite ready to make the commitment.

Speaking in 2009, the Australian beauty said: “It’s definitely something, one day down the track, I want. But for now, I’m happy. I’m just too busy with work that I can’t be thinking of that right now.”

Nicolas Cage is in early negotiations to star in ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance’.

The actor played Johnny Blaze in the first movie in 2007, and studio bosses are hoping to secure his return for the sequel, with Mark Nevaldine and Brian Taylor also in negotiations to direct the film.

The first film saw Blaze become twinned with a demon after doing a deal with the devil to save the life of a loved one, turning him into a flaming-skulled stunt motorcyclist.

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog, plot details are still unknown, but shooting is planned to begin at the end of the year.

‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance’ has been written by David Goyer, while Avi and Ari Arad, Michael De Luca and Steven Paul are all set to produce.

Nicolas will next been seen in fantasy action film ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ – as magician Balthazar Blake – alongside Jay Baruchel. It is set for an August release in the UK.

Other movies coming up for Nicolas include ‘Season of the Witch’ and ‘The Hungry Rabbit Jumps’.

Liam Neeson Quit Boxing After Scary Beating

Liam Neeson Quit Boxing After Scary Beating

Posted on 16 Jun 2010 at 6:24pm

Liam Neeson quit boxing as a talented young amateur when one fighter literally rang his bell after beating him.  The Irishman was well on his way to becoming a professional as a young man when one defeat made him realise he wasn’t cut out to be a fighter.  He recalls, “I didn’t get knocked out, but I was beat and I came out of the ring and my father was with me and he said, ‘OK son, go and get changed,’ and I looked at him and I thought, ‘Changed… What’s he talking about?’  “It was very scary and it lasted about 10 minutes. I literally didn’t know if I was a human being, and I thought, ‘That’s it’.”  But his boxing legend lives on – Neeson’s The A-Team co-star, UFC fighter Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, was well aware of the actor’s prowess in the ring.  Jackson says, “My boxing trainer is from Liverpool; he’s an Irishman, Mark Kenny, and he told me he used to watch him… He said he was bad; he was a bada**.”

And boxing’s loss was acting’s gain as Neeson has already got a whole host of projects under his belt this year as both Chloe and Clash of the Titans found success at the box office.

He is back on the big screen this summer in the role of Hannibal as he leads the cast in the adaptartion of popular TV show The A-Team.

Christopher Nolan Doesn't Want 3D Batman

Christopher Nolan has warned Batman fans not to expect the next superhero sequel in 3-D – because he’s not a big fan of the popular format.  Nolan recently turned down offers to use the technology to shoot new movie Inception, because he wasn’t happy with the quality of 3-D films currently on the market.  He tells the Hollywood Reporter, “We did tests on Inception to look at the post-conversion process. And they worked very well. It’s quite easy to do, in fact.

“But it takes a little time, and we didn’t have the time to do it to the standard that I would have been happy.”  And he admits he has no plans to make the next Batman movie using the technology – unless fans put up a fight.  He says, “I’m not a huge fan of 3-D… But really it’s going to be up to audiences to decide how they want to watch their films.”  The follow-up to 2008’s The Dark Knight is scheduled for a summer 2012 release.

David Goyer is already working on a script fr the third filmin the franchise and filming is rumoured to be getting underway in March of next year.

Last week Joseph Gordon Levitt was linked to the role of The Riddler, Levitt has worked with Nolan in latest movie Inception, a role Eddie Murphy and Johnny Depp have both been tipped to play in the past.

Katherine Heigl Amazed By Parents' Strength

Katherine Heigl Amazed By Parents’ Strength

Katherine Heigl is amazed by her parents’ resilience following the tragic death of her brother in 1986 – because now she is a mum herself she understands how badly the loss must have affected them.  The Knocked Up star’s older brother Jason died at the age of 15 when he was thrown from the back of a pick-up truck in a car accident.  Heigl observed her mum and dad mourning the loss of her sibling 24 years ago, but she has only recently realised the torment they must have gone through.  The actress feels she can empathise with their loss better now she is a mother to adopted daughter Naleigh – and she’s started talking to her mum about the painful subject.  She says, “I sat with my parents’ pain since I was seven years old, and it was devastating to all of us. But I didn’t really understand what they went through until I became a mother myself.

“I just asked my mum last week, ‘How did you do it? How do you survive that?’”

Eva Mendes Will Do Anything For Her Art

Eva Mendes Will Do Anything For Her Art

Posted on 16 Jun 2010 at 5:33pm

Eva Mendes has revealed that she would do anything and bare everything for her ‘art’.

Mendes shot to fame in 2001 when she appeared naked in Antoine Faqua’s gritty police drama Training Day and the actress admits that she doesn’t shy away from nudity roles.

She told W magazine: “I’ve never had a problem with nudity, but I don’t put it out there without a reason – I’m not an exhibitionist – but, honestly, for my art I’ll do anything almost. I’ll go there.

“I know I walk a fine line between being a respected actor and being what they call a sex symbol.

“But I’ve never felt objectified. Nothing you see me do is an accident.

“I might act like it’s an accident but the opposite is true. I’m incredibly calculated when it comes to my career.”

The actress was last seen on the big screen in Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, in which she reunited with her Ghost Rider co-star Nicolas Cage.

But she will be back on the big screen later this year when she teams up with Sam Worthington for Last Night and Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg for The Other Guys.

Chris Noth Regrets Law & Order Return

Chris Noth Regrets Law & Order Return

Posted on 16 Jun 2010 at 11:10am

Chris Noth regrets returning to the Law & Order TV franchise to replace exhausted Vincent D’Onofrio – because the show killed his creativity.  Noth reprised his Mike Logan character in 2005 for three seasons on Law & Order: Criminal Intent and now admits the lengthy return to the cop drama was a mistake.  He tells Cigar Aficionado magazine, “I never really believed I fit in that show. I did it because the deal was so good and I didn’t have to do every episode (and) Vince needed a break.  “We did some good shows. We had a good crew and I liked the people. But I don’t want to do something that’s just comfort food.  “Those procedurals (shows) lull you into a certain state because they all look the same and they’re death to the creative process for an actor.”

The actor revealed that he has also lost his faith in CNN’s news reports when an incorrect item about an injury he’d sustained on a film set ran on the cable channel’s ticker six months after it happened.  The actor admits he was stunned when an item reading ‘Chris Noth hurt on set’ flashed up on the screen as he was sitting in a bar earlier this year (10).  He tried to figure out how the story came about and could only attribute it to a slap from his TV wife Julianna Margulies months before while filming a fight scene in The Good Wife.  He tells Cigar Aficionado magazine, “I couldn’t believe they ran it because it wasn’t true… She (Margulies) gave me good slaps. I think we did three takes and it left a little bit of a mark.  “And six months later I see it on the CNN ticker… How reliable is the news today if that’s the news?”  For the record, Noth, who is the son of a journalist, was not injured while making the Sex & The City sequel.

The film has been in development since 2005, and joins a number of 80s classics currently proving popular with Hollywood, with both ‘The A-Team’ and ‘Karate Kid’ on the big screen.

David Von Ancken is due to direct the film, which is due for release in 2011.
