Carrie Prejean is threatening to sue the Miss California USA pageant for defamation and stands by her claim that she never missed a scheduled appearance. In a letter sent to Prejean’s lawyer, the Miss California USA pageant proves they’re ready to fire right back and threatens to sue her for “churlish insolent behavior.” The pageant is armed with hard facts, including emails and a list of appearances that Carrie neglected to attend. They claim that she did not attend 39 appearances since May 12, and that signed a book deal, which she publicly stated that she did not. They also add allegations of defamation against Keith Lewis, the pageant director, to the long list of Carrie’s misdeeds. Carrie claims that that Lewis “pushed” a Playboy offer on her, while Lewis says that he merely informed her about the offer – two very different things.
Carrie Prejean has threatened to sue the Miss California USA folks for defamation, we’ve learned. But we just obtained a letter the pageant’s lawyer fired off to Carrie’s lawyer, threatening to sue her for her “churlish insolent misbehavior.”
The long letter details the alleged misdeeds which led to Carrie getting das boot. For starters, the pageant’s lawyer says Carrie is full of it when she stated publicly she didn’t ink a book deal. The letter also says Carrie had wrongfully turned down 39 pageant appearances since May 12.
And the letter claims Carrie defamed pageant honcho Keith Lewis when she said he “pressured her to appear in Playboy.” Lewis says he merely passed on the offer, which he never advocated she take.
The letter says Carrie was fired because of her “intolerable misbehavior,” citing “hostile communications from Carrie.”
carrie prejeanThe letter threatens this: “If Carrie Prejean wants to assert in public that she was courteous, cooperative or professional in her conduct as Miss California USA, the history of her churlish insolent misbehavior can be presented.”
The lawyer goes on to demand that Carrie stop making defamatory remarks and recant the ones she already made … or else.
After those rude emails surfaced online, in which Carrie sounded entitled and selfish, it became hard to believe her version of events. She doesn’t seem to understand that as Miss California USA, she is under contract to the pageant, and as such, she has to work with them – and for them.
It would be a huge victory to the pageant if they get Carrie to stand in front of a podium and say she’s sorry. She claims that “most of America” knows that she is under fire because of her comments at the pageant, but the situation has moved far past that one incident. She seems to have forgotten about her nude photos, and about backing out of appearances.
